Ionic Mechatronics Innovation
Steve has over 21 years of experience as an electrical engineer, mechanical engineer and 14 years as a business owner and entrepreneur.
Steve began his career with Linamar Corporation, first as a production machinist (Engineer in Training), advancing to Project Engineer, Materials Manager and Plant Manager. For three years, after moving to Sudbury, Steve managed a steel fabrication shop (Metex Manufacturing).
In 1998 Steve incorporated Vismat Systems as a small automated systems engineer and integrator. In 1999, after a successful first year, Vismat merged with Stellar Inc (Steve Reichle) to form Ionic Mechatronics Limited. In 2008 Steve repurchased all Stellar shares to become majority owner of Ionic Mechatronics.
Under his direction, Ionic Mechatronics has expanded from a one-man operation to a multidisciplinary group, directly employing 55 people, with two offices, three assembly shops, generating 18 million in annual revenue, and with customers on every continent.
Steve’s success has been in his ability to innovate and develop new, highly reliable and productive machine designs, and to cultivate an enthusiastic team of similarly capable individuals. Ionic has repeatedly succeeded in winning contracts while competing with larger competitors.
Ionic Mechatronics has developed strength in the development of unique systems, where no prepackage application machinery exists. In his position of Manager – Automated Systems, Steve still completes a great deal of the conceptual level design on new and potential projects. And he remains directly involved in the engineering of all new products.
